DC United vs. New York City FC: Preview, time, and how to watch

DC United is back on the field for the final match of the 2026 season this afternoon as they take on New York City FC at Audi Field. The Black-and-Red hope to close out the season on a high note despite not making the playoffs for the seventh straight season.

DC is riddled with injuries, with the club announcing that two players underwent surgery this week and will be out for the team. Goalkeeper Sean Johnson underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Tuesday, while forward Tai Baribo underwent core muscle repair surgery on Tuesday. Johnson is expected to be sidelined for 6-10 weeks, while Baribo will be out for two to three months. Forward Jackson Hopkins is also out due to injury as he seeks a second opinion on his ankle.

That means that DC will rely upon the rest of the roster to get them to the finish line against a NYCFC squad that will also miss the playoffs. Still, the players have pride to play for as well as show that they can be part of the solution for DC United as the club prepares for another offseason that will lead to the sprint season in February. They hope to give their fans a win to close out the season.
