DC Power FC is back at Audi Field tonight as they host Tampa Bay Sun in a battle for 3rd place in the USL Super League standings. DC Power is coming off a road loss to Dallas Trinity, while Tampa Bay defeated Fort Lauderdale United last weekend.

DC is looking to get back in the win column, but desperately want to do so at home. Since the club began play back in 2024, they only have four wins in 30 matches at Audi Field. The Tampa Bay Sun has won on each of its three visits to DC, and DC head coach Omid Namazi wants that to change.

“One thing we’ve got to change is this trend of losing points at home,” Namazi said earlier this week to the press. “Whether we tie the games or we lose, that’s got to change with these two game [against Tampa Bay and Tuesday against Fort Lauderdale United]. Good opportunities to win two games and put ourselves right at the top of the league.”

The players share in the belief that for DC Power to remain in playoff position, they have to do better at home. Part of that is dialing up the energy that they come out with and maintaining it throughout the match.

“I think the biggest thing for me is just like how hard and the energy that we go into games. I think we went to Lexington knowing that they were the reigning champions and we went in there and we made a point like coming into every game with that energy and that enthusiasm is going to set the tone,” goalkeeper Katie Cappelletti said to the press. “And that’s what we build off of, we thrive off of that. I think all athletes do. I think everyone across the league would probably say that. So going into games and just setting the tone of that same energy, I think [that] just shows what we are more capable of and that’s going to dictate how the flow of the game goes from there.”

With two opportunities in a few days to get points at home, DC Power recognizes the opportunity ahead of them. They just have to perform and turn Audi Field into the fortress they’ve desired, where opponents fear coming in because they know they’re leaving emptyhanded. They have a chance to put another stone in that foundation this evening at Audi Field.
