After the summer transfer window has completed, DC United has maintained its club profile status. Today, Major League Soccer released the updated club profiles for each of the 30 teams in the league. DC United, as they were when the club profiles were announced at the beginning of the season, has positioned itself as a U22 Initiative roster.

With a U22 Initiative club profile, a club can have up to two Designated Players and up to four U22 Initiative Players. They would then be eligible for additional General Allocation Money (GAM). To make a switch to a Designated Player model, they would have to use $1 million or less of their additional GAM and have no more than three U22 Initiative players on their roster. Clubs who desired to switch their profile had to declare it prior to the close of the transfer window on September 2nd.

Currently, DC United continues to have two Designated Players on their roster: Tai Baribo and Louis Munteanu. That has not changed from when the club profiles were last released in February. What has changed is the U22 Initiative players. In February, DC United had Caden Clark, Gabriel Pirani, and Kim Joon-hong listed as U22 Initiative players, with one more spot unallocated. Now, all three of those players are gone, and Jackson Hopkins and Nathan Ordaz are the club’s listed U22 Initiative players. Hopkins inked a contract extension as a U22 Initiative player back in May, while the club traded for Nathan Ordaz in July. Both players also have Homegrown status. The Black-and-Red have two U22 Initative player slots unallocated.

The club currently has $809,890 in 2026 General Allocation Money remaining. Head coach René Weiler has said that the club’s roster is pretty set for the rest of the season, so it’s unclear if that will be used for new contracts with current players or held in reserve.

Of DC United’s seven international slots, six are used. João Peglow, Kye Rowles and Matti Peltola all acquired green cards, which took them off the list. With the loans of Jordan Farr, Richie Aman, Hakim Karamoko, and Garrison Tubbs, and with Grant Leveille off the main roster, the roster has 29 players with 23 available for selection on matchdays.
