DC Power FC is looking to keep the winning ways going tonight when they return to Audi Field to face Sporting Jacksonville. DC has won two straight road matches, including a win last weekend at the home of defending champions Lexington SC.

The matchup between DC Power and Sporting Jax has become a matchup of 1 vs. 2 in the early part of the season. Jacksonville has opened up their season with wins in their first 3 matches, while DC Power sit right behind them with 2 wins and a loss. After the wins on the road, DC is hoping to replicate that success at home, something that has eluded them in their first couple of seasons.

“It’s been a mystery why we haven’t gotten the results at home,” head coach Omid Namazi said to media this week. “I would say it’s a little bit being unlucky. We’ve had our chances and we’ve been in positions to put teams away and we haven’t whether we’ve hit the post or missed a chance in front of the goal…I think we have better quality across the, across the roster, and I think you’ll see more wins.”

Midfielder Justina Gaynor, who has spent a lot of time on the back line so far this season due to injuries and overall defensive alignment, said that the players are ready for the challenge tonight of defending against a Jacksonville team that has been strong since they debuted in the league last season.

“Yeah, they are a strong team. I think that last year we saw that, [and] this year we’re continuing to see that,” Gaynor said. “They’re just very good on the ball. They’re good in possession. They have a kind of clear identity of what they want to do. So we’ve been looking at that this week.”  

DC Power want to make the playoffs for the first time in their third season, and they have stated that these early games are important to get the momentum generated that can carry them through the sprint season. They hope to get their first home win of the season tonight to continue to send a message to the rest of the league that they are for real.
