International Roundup: How Did Spirit and DC Power Players Do For Their Countries?

The final international window of 2025 has come and gone. Eleven players from the Spirit and D.C. Power received callups from their countries. Nine players saw the field during the window. For two players, it was a memorable window as they made their first appearances for their nations. Others took part in in matches with some absolutely wild scorelines. Let’s look at how things shaped up for players from the DMV.

Croix Bethune and Kate Wiesner (United States)

This international window rewarded Kate Wiesner with a series of career firsts. Her call up was her first official one for the USWNT senior team. Wiesner received her first cap when she subbed in for Gotham’s Lilly Reale in the 84th minute with the US leading Italy 3 to 0. Three days later, Wiesner started her first game for the USWNT in the second of the two matches with Le Azzurre. Weezy played 75 minutes before subbing out as part of a double substitution.

Croix Bethune’s call up was her first since 2024. Bethune didn’t make the bench for the US’s first game against Italy. She entered the game in the 75th minute for Lily Yohannes in the same double switch that saw Wiesner make way.

Across both games, it was the Cat Macario show for the USWNT. Macario had a brace in the US’s 3-0 win in the first game against Italy. In game two, Macario scored the US’s first goal in the 20th minute when she chipped Francesca Durante after receiving a sublime pass from Lily Yohannes. Jaedyn Shaw made it 2-0 with an absolute laser from outside the box 21 minutes later. With the two victories, the USWNT head into 2026 on a four game win streak.

Sofia Cantore (Italy)

Cantore featured in both games for Italy during their Florida tour. She went the full 90 minutes in Italy’s 3-0 loss in the first game. Entering at the start of the second half in the second game, Cantore breathed a little life into a somewhat listless Italian offense. Her introduction however, wasn’t enough as Italy fell 2-0.

Cantore finishes the year with 14 appearances for Italy, 938 minutes played, one goal and three assists.

Rebeca Bernal (Mexico)

Mexico kicked off their Concacaf W qualifying campaign against St Vincent and the Grenadines. Bernal started and played 79 minutes in what ended up being a 14-0 rout. Pachuca’s Charlyn Corral had seven (!) goals and Lizbeth Jacqueline Ovalle of the Orlando Pride had a hattrick.

In 2025, Bernal appeared nine times for Mexico, scoring a goal and providing one assist.

Sandy MacIver (Scotland)

Scotland’s international window featured friendlies against Ukraine and the People’s Republic of China in Spain. Sandy MacIver started in goal for the first friendly, a 1-1 draw against Ukraine. Despite out possessing Ukraine roughly 75% to 35% and outshoot them 6 to 1, it took a 96th minute goal by Celtic’s Maria McAneny to avoid defeat.

MacIver didn’t make the bench for Scotland’s 3-2 victory over China.

Esme Morgan (England)

The Lionesses scheduled friendlies against the People’s Republic of China and Ghana for this international window. Morgan started in England’s 8-0 victory over China and subbed off at halftime. Bayern München’s Georgia Stanway had a hat trick and Arsenal’s Beth Mead had a brace in just 45 minutes. She didn’t dress for England’s 2-0 victory over Ghana due to illness.

Morgan made nine appearances for the Lionesses and played 542 minutes in 2025.

Narumi Miura (Japan)

Japan scheduled a pair of matches against Canada to end 2025. Narumi was an unused substitute in the first match. She started the second match and subbed out at the half. Japan won both matches 3-0 and 1-0 respectively. Utah’s Mina Tanaka had a goal in each game.

Narumi played 225 minutes across four games for Japan in 2025.

Leicy Santos (Colombia)

Though she received a call up from Colombia, Santos didn’t dress for their CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League match against Bolivia. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Colombia sits third in the table behind Venezuela and Argentina with seven points, though they have played one less game than Venezuela.

Santos ends 2025 with 15 appearances for Colombia, five goals and four assists.

DC Power

Jaydah Bedoya (Puerto Rico)

Bedoyah received her first cap for Puerto Rico when she subbed on at half time in their Concacaf W qualifier against Saint Lucia. Carolina Acent’s Jill Aguilera had four goals as Puerto Rico knocked of Saint Lucia 7-0.

Charlie Estcourt (Wales)

Wales scheduled South Korea and Switzerland as their final opponents for the year. Estcourt was an unused substitute in Cymru’s 1-1 draw with South Korea and their 3-2 win over Switzerland.

Claire Constant (Haiti)

Constant played 87 minutes for Haiti in their 9-0 defeat of Belize. Seattle’s Nérilia Mondésir scored four goals during the game.

International matches will resume in the new year.
