USWNT vs. Italy, December 2025 Friendly: Preview, Time, and How to Watch
The USWNT takes on Italy for the second time this international window, after comprehensively defeating their European opponent 3-0 last Friday. Olivia Moultrie opened the floodgates 90 seconds into that contest, before Cat Macario came through with a brace of classy finishes to complete the scoring on the night. The game featured a late sub for Spirit player Kate Wiesner, who made her national team debut. Naomi Girma made a relief inducing return to the starting lineup after experiencing injuries and growing pains with her new club, Chelsea. Rose Lavelle, Olivia Moultrie, and Cat Macario had the creativity to wreck the Italian defensive structure, and Sofia Cantore was unable to inspire a goal for her home country.
It’s completely unclear what lineup Emma Hayes will decide on for tonight’s game, as the US coach will attempt to balance chemistry building with rotation and the general process of getting looks and blooding underused talent in an incredibly deep roster.
I will say, and hear me out on this, Sam Coffey and Claire Hutton continuing to get minutes as a double pivot is the cure to heart disease, allegedly, so please, please, let them cook once more.
Check the comments later for revelation of the starting eleven. Enjoy!

Cantore on the bench for Italy to start.
A little surprised that Patterson isn’t getting a run out.
Sigh, Heaps. Best case scenario, she earns a foul when pressed.
Worst case scenario is every instinct she has about how to be a midfielder.
Case in point, deciding her place is to charge on the dribble down the left wing.
She just wants to DO stuff. Isn’t concerned with shape, doesn’t register partnering, is useless out of possession.
Let this be the fucking end.
Yohannes is putting on a clinic.
Cantore comes in at the half for Italy and immediately faces of against Weezy,
Still wild to see a player (Heaps) who is given the role of double pivot, but has the mindset of “when we get the ball back, I think this will be a good place to be to be important. Captain stuff!”
Cat robbed of a second cuz Italian defender decides to start acting after the play
Croix about to come on for Lily
