DC Power FC @ Dallas Trinity: Preview, time, and how to watch

DC Power FC return to the field this afternoon when they take on Dallas Trinity FC on the road at the Cotton Bowl. DC Power comes off a two week layoff after a draw against Spokane Zephyr on October 19th.

Since DC Power last played, four players were called up for international duty: Forward Loza Abera (Ethiopia) and midfielders Charlie Estcourt (Wales), Katrina Guillou (Philippines) and Carleigh Frilles (Philippines). Head coach Omid Namazi said that all will be available today, but none will start and it’s all about whether they are able to contribute after the long trips home. He also discussed some of the things they worked on after a few results that probably should have gone DC Power’s way.

“We talked about playing a little bit more direct, exploiting the space behind them, and that’s exactly where we got our goal from,” Namazi said in press availability this week. “But even in the run of play, early in the game, middle of the game, we need to be a little bit more direct and trying to get in behind the other team’s defenders and make them face their own goal. Because we can create more goal scoring opportunities, but we can also force them into making mistakes. And, And a lot in this league are scored that way.”

Captain Susanna Fitch also indicated that the team thinks they’re close to putting together a complete game and getting more wins. “I think we’ve talked a lot about putting together a 90 minute performance. And honestly in the last two games we’ve been pretty close,” Fitch said. “The other games we had a good first half and then not too good a second half, having those moments where we let a team get a goal…it’s that final piece and we’ve been really focusing on [scoring] this past week and a half in training and it feels really good.”

They play a Dallas Trinity team that has some familiar names for DC soccer fans. Tamara Bolt and Shadia Nankya are both on loan to Dallas Trinity from the Washington Spirit, while former Spirit fan favorite Amber Wisner (née Brooks) dons the captain’s armband for the club. DC Power now wants to use some of the games they have in hand to make up points in the standings, and they hope to get it started in Dallas today.
