The United States Men’s National Team have a lot to prove in tonight’s match against Japan. After an embarrassing loss to Korea Republic over the weekend, the USMNT have fans and soccer critics questioning whether they can be ready for next year’s World Cup.
Unfortunately, they face an opponent who may be even tougher. Ranked 17th in the World, Japan most recently played Mexico to a scoreless draw in Oakland on Saturday after winning the 2025 EAFF E-1 Football Championship in July.

A turnover forced in Japan’s defensive third leads to a couple blocked shots and a saved header. That was the most dangerous we’ve looked tonight about 18 minutes in.

It concerns me that the defense line is playing so far forward especially Ream. I know Japan is sitting back and hitting on the counter, but our defensive line being so high is concerning.

I believe the problem is that I am wearing my US Soccer shirt today, and I was not wearing it on Saturday.
