Let’s rank the 2025 MLS jerseys

Major League Soccer opens the 2025 season next weekend, and this past week has been Jersey Week for the league. Each of the 30 teams in the league released their 2025 jersey for fans and collectors alike.

Of course, with San Diego entering the league this season as the 30th team in the league’s 30th season, they enter with brand new primary and secondary jerseys. They introduced their primary jersey back in the fall. Inter Miami, because they have Lionel Messi on their roster, continues to be allowed to have two jerseys each year by the league. They introduced their secondary jersey in the fall.

It also looks like the Apple TV logo that appears on the sleeve of each jersey across the league may look different on the players this season. It appears that each team will have a customized logo that reflects their jersey identity.

So, when the league drops a bunch of jerseys, you know we have to rank them. So, we’re ranking all 32 new jerseys for 2025, which includes both jerseys that were announced in the fall. Some teams knocked it out of the park, while some fumbled the assignment in a huge way. Most of the rankings out there start with the best jerseys and work their way down. We save the best for last in this one. So, take a look at each of the 2025 MLS jerseys, ranked from 32 to 1.

32. San Diego FC – The Woven Into One Kit

This has no effort whatsoever. They had the longest to get their jerseys together and this doesn’t feel like they spent any of that time to their advantage. Missed. opportunity.

31. FC Dallas – The Inferno Kit

These look more like training tops than they do a jersey, and that’s unfortunate. There’s a lot they could have done with this template, like bringing back the old hoops for nostalgia purposes or going the route of the Dallas Burn.

30. Inter Miami CF – The Fortitude Kit

These are objectively bad. You have a player many consider to be the greatest of all time, and this is what you came up with? If Miami’s gonna get 2 jerseys every single year and just do this, take that privilege away from them.

29. LAFC – The Secondary Kit

They tried to be Real Madrid. They are not Real Madrid. Some may call these good, but this is just devoid of imagination.

28. Nashville SC – The Heart of Nashville Kit

Nashville has some excellent colors and they could do so much more with the rhythm motif they have all over the place. This jersey seems like they just wanted to have their colors into the template without anything else…and that’s a shame.

27. Chicago Fire FC – The Municipal Kit

These aren’t bad, but Chicago’s been all over the place lately with their jerseys. They should have gone with a more prominent light blue look on the away instead of these.

26. St. Louis City SC – The Forever CITY Red Kit

This is St. Louis City’s second home kit since they entered the league. They are very red and it doesn’t seem like they wanted anything else on it when one of their accent colors could have resonated much more.

25. Toronto FC – The Club Kit

Toronto is back in red at home where they should be. Their jerseys lack quite a bit that could have been solved by having more black accents instead of a shade of red that looks orange.

24. San Diego FC – The State of Flow Jersey

Again, San Diego should have done much better with these. Entering the league with so much time to really make a statement with what their identity could be, their fans get these instead. Taking the colorful crest outline and throwing it on the Adidas torso template horns isn’t enough…they needed to be bolder and they missed that opportunity..

23. New York City FC – The Excelsior Kit

NYCFC’s issue with these jerseys is that they look more Manchester City and not enough like New York City. They could have taken the time to add one of the colors they introduced back in late 2023 as part of their brand expansion: purple, neon green, neon yellow, or deep royal blue. They also could have added more orange. Instead, this is just very nondescript as a NYCFC jersey.

22. New York Red Bulls – The Stone Kit

It’s unclear whether the idea was to conjure Metrostars memories with this one, but they look like snakeskin. These will be their away jerseys, so they should fold them and put them away for the next two years.

21. Columbus Crew – The Goosebumps Kit

I LOVE Goosebumps. The series is arguably the greatest kids series of all time. These Crew jerseys don’t quite give me the same vibes, but I appreciate the attempt.

20. FC Cincinnati – The Orange and Blue Legacy Kit

Cincinnati has a wonderful color combo in orange and blue. It just doesn’t feel like they know which blue – royal or navy – they want to lean into. This is getting closer, but they may want to consider which one they want to make the main one and then go from there.

19. Orlando City SC – The Perfect Storm Kit

Orlando’s jerseys look pretty decent. Their only problem is leaning into white as the secondary color instead of the gold. With more gold present in this jersey, it would be much higher up the list.

18. New England Revolution – The Eastern White Pine Kit

I would have loved to see even more green in this. While the purpose of the jersey is there and a really nice concept, the Adidas Teamgeist template doesn’t allow for the jersey to fully be great.

17. Sporting Kansas City – The One KC Jersey

Kansas City is back in hoops, and it’s interesting that they vacillate between hoops and argyle with their jerseys. This one feels lacking compared to similar hoops jerseys they’ve had in the past.

16. San Jose Earthquakes – The Headliner Jersey

When you see these jerseys, you think they’re wild in a wonderful way. When you look at them the next time, you think they’re wild in the worst way. It’s hard to call these, so they sit right in the middle of the rankings for more debate.

15. Inter Miami CF – The Euforia Kit

Pink and black should be the best combination in the league, but somehow Miami decides they just want to just recycle old Messi jerseys. This one is Argentina but not as great, and it’s not even the best one with subliminal stripes that dropped this year.

14. Houston Dynamo FC – The Season 20 Kit

This one brings you back to the days when Houston had just moved over from San Jose. I do like these jerseys for the nostalgia reasons.

13. CF MontréalThe Montréal Original Jersey

Montreal is back in black and blue where they belong. May it always stay that way. They do a good job with these too.

12. Real Salt Lake – The Grid City Kit

Real Salt Lake gets some credit here for really trying something and connecting it to their city. They of course aren’t the only city in America whose streets are in a grid system, but having a checkerboard design deserves major props and it works for them. Also, many monarchs had a jester…and this could serve as their uniform

11. Atlanta United: The Connector Kit

Atlanta made it hard on themselves by carrying the Five Stripes nickname. They’re back in striped jerseys that have those five stripes across the front and they’re really good. They just miss out on the top 10.

10. Charlotte FC – The Fortress Kit

These really turned out well. The secondary logo on the front instead of the main crest works so well with the castle/fortress theme, and this jersey really is one of the best in the league this year.

9. D.C. United – The Soul Kit

Our beloved Black-and-Red’s Soul Kit has grown up quite a bit (or was it the majority of the league dropping duds). Either way, the off white base and the pattern comes together and makes it a pretty good combo. Of course, what brings it down is that it’s replacing one the Cherry Blossoms, one of the most popular jerseys in club history.

8. Austin FC – The Heartbeat Kit

Austin is leaning hard into the Verde, and I like it. They still have the stripes but the black stripes are gone. If they had maybe a black outline in some of the stripes, this would be even higher.

7. Vancouver Whitecaps FC – The Peak Jersey

Vancouver’s traditional home jersey returns, but this time they extend the blue horizontal bar to the sleeves.

6. Portland Timbers – The Forever Green & Gold Kit

Portland’s forest green and gold is straight awesome. This creates a timeless jersey for their fans…after years of going back and forth between several shades of green, they realized they already had the best one.

5. LA Galaxy – The RIZON Jersey

This is just a great jersey. The purple, navy, and yellow coming together to resemble a sunrise is just wonderful. Objectively, one of the best of the bunch.

4. Philadelphia Union – The Voltage Kit

Let’s just go ahead and say it loudly: Philadelphia should have light blue and yellow as their main primary colors forever. Period. This brings back the excellent vibes of the 2021 secondary kit they had that was supporter driven. Those were arguably the best in the league…these are as well.

3. Minnesota United FC – The Convergence Kit

Once again, Minnesota made an incredible jersey. Combined with their home jerseys, they have the best jersey set in the entire league (barely edging out Seattle). Signifying the two main rivers in their city coming together, the jersey is just a 10/10. No notes.

2. Colorado Rapids – The Headwaters Kit

Colorado came in hard with these. The whitewater rafting culture of the state is unique, and the jersey brings that to life in a huge way. The Colorado C with the soccer ball in the middle is a wonderful touch to it as well…it makes the jersey feel modern and vintage simultaneously.

1. Seattle Sounders FC – The Salish Sea Kit

Once again, Seattle understood the assignment and took it seriously. It’s an incredible jersey that ties all of the feels that you have about Seattle together. And, it uses the inspiration of artists from the Puyallup, Muckleshoot and Suquamish Tribes to bring awareness and connection to the Puget Sound. What a great choice, what a great concept, and perfect execution. It’s the league’s best for 2025.

The worst part about the Seattle jersey is that it’s limited to only two years. It’s one of the best kits I’ve ever seen.

I saw someone say that the Inter Miami kit looks like a Victoria’s Secret shopping bag, and now I can’t unsee it.

Philadelphia missed out on a small kite with a key hanging from it in the lower aspect of the jersey….(think Ben Franklin discovering electricity)
