Washington Spirit add free agent forward Brittany Ratcliffe

The Washington Spirit’s social team has been nailing their videos so far. Prepping INOVA Performance Complex for Caleb’s arrival was incredible, and they followed it up with a teaser video for a new signing which heavily featured an orange ribbon tied in a bow. It didn’t take fans too long to figure it out, but now it’s official. Free agent Brittany Ratcliffe will be joining the Spirit on a three-year deal.

Ratcliffe is a tidy attacking player who has NWSL experience playing as a winger or attacking midfielder. She is a tidy passer, makes constant runs, and has a good burst of acceleration that comes in handy particularly later in games where she’s carved out a solid niche as an impact sub.

Washington has been on the receiving end of her impacting matches more than once, as she’s scored some devastating goals against the Spirit.

Not only is this a solid veteran addition to the squad who can maintain quality and threat when coming into matches as a sub, it may also wisely serve as protection against her doing things like this to us again.

Now we can look forward to her doing these things for us, which will certainly feel a lot better. Welcome to the Spirits, Brittany!
