After a monthlong layoff for something called Leagues Cup, MLS and MLS Fantasy are back! This round was led by GSFC, who returned to the top of the weekly leaderboard with 89 points. That score was just one point more than overall leader BL4CKnRED, whose advantage is now at 64 points.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers
Houston’s Steve Clark ($8.4) combined a clean sheet with an improbable assist, scoring 11 points to lead the position. Trailing him were Dayne St. Clair (MIN, $8.1), with 10 points on a clean sheet, and Daniel (SJ, $6.5), with 9 points on the same. For DCU, Tyler Miller ($7.4) scored 4 points.

Defenders
John Tolkin (NYR, $9.6) paired a goal with a clean sheet for 15 points, leading the defenders just ahead of Franco Escobar (HOU, $7.5), who did the same for 14 points. Brooks Lennon (ATL, $11.9) tallied a clean sheet and an assist to round out the top three with 12 points. The D.C. defense featured Ruan ($7.4) with 7 points, followed by Pedro Santos ($9.0) and Derrick Williams ($6.0) with 4, Steven Birnbaum ($6.3) and Brendan Hines-Ike ($4.6) with 3, and Andy Najar ($5.0) with 1.

Midfielders
Montreal’s Mathieu Choiniere ($8.5) scored twice on the way to 17 points, leading the midfield and all players. Trailing him were Eduard Lowen (STL, $11.6), with three assists and 15 points, and Aidan Morris (CLB, $10.0), with 14 points on a goal and an assist. The United midfielders were Russell Canouse ($5.7) with 3 points, and the trio of Chris Durkin ($6.4), Ted Ku-Dipietro ($4.6), and Yamil Asad ($4.0) with 1.

Forwards
Giorgos Giakoumakis (ATL, $8.7) scored two goals, leading the forwards with 15 points. Behind him were Nicholas Gioacchini (STL, $7.6), who scored 13 points on two goals, and Federico Bernardeschi (TOR, $7.1), with two goals of his own and 12 points. For D.C. it was Christian Benteke ($7.1) and Cristian Dajome ($4.5) both with 2 points.

Looking Ahead
LAFC plays twice this round, and everyone else plays once. I like Andre Blake (PHI , $7.9) in goal at DCU, and Julian Gressel (CLB, $9.7) in defense vs. Toronto. Carles Gil (NE, $13.4) looks good in midfield at Montreal, with an asterisk for Lionel Messi’s inclusion in the game at a hefty pricetag of $15.0), and get Denis Bouanga (LA, $10.8) out there at forward vs. Colorado and at Charlotte.
