GSFC found themselves back atop the charts this round after scoring 136 points. That helped them eat ever so slightly into BL4CKnRED‘s overall lead, which now stands at 73 points.
Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
Both Roman Burki (STL, $9.7) and Zac MacMath (RSL, $8.1) kept a clean sheet on the way to 10 points, splitting the positional lead. D.C.’s Alex Bono ($6.0) was just behind with a clean sheet and 8 points. Tyler Miller ($8.0) was D.C.’s other scoring goalkeeper with 4 points.
Defenders
RSL’s Justen Glad ($9.5) paired a goal with a clean sheet, scoring 17 points to lead the defenders. Trailing him was the 14-point duo of Brooks Lennon (ATL, $11.4), with a goal and a clean sheet, and Noah Allen (MIA, $4.1) with a goal. The United defense was led by Ruan ($7.1) with 12 points, followed by Donovan Pines ($8.9) with 11, Steven Birnbaum ($6.3) with 10, both Derrick Williams ($6.6) and Pedro Santos ($8.6) with 9, and Andy Najar ($5.8) with 3.
Midfielders
The Galaxy’s Riqui Puig ($9.6) amassed two goals and two assists over two games for 27 points, leading the midfielders and all players. Behind him were Pablo Ruiz (RSL $10.6), who tallied three assists and 19 points, and Tyler Boyd (LAG, $5.9), whose two goals and one assist helped him to 18 points. For DCU it was Yamil Asad ($4.0) with 8 points, Russell Canouse ($6.1) and Lewis O’Brien ($7.4) with 6, and Chris Durkin ($6.8) and Victor Palsson ($7.1) with 2.
Forwards
D.C.’s Taxi Fountas ($7.3) led the forwards with 18 points on the strength of two goals and an assist, ahead of Karol Swiderski (CLT, $9.7), who scored two goals and 15 points. Denis Bouanga (LA, $11.1) rounded out the top three with 13 points on one goal. The other scoring D.C. forwards were Nigel Robertha ($4.6) with 7 points, Cristian Dajome ($4.4) with 6, Christian Benteke ($7.9) with 3, and Kristian Fletcher ($4.0) with 2.
Looking Ahead
It’s another mass double game week, as Nashville, Seattle, Cincinnati, New England, St. Louis, RSL, Chicago, Atlanta, Austin, LAFC, Houston, Vancouver, the Red Bulls, Philadelphia, Minnesota, Kansas City, and Montreal all play twice, while everyone else plays once. I like Jonathan Sirois (MTL, $9.1) in goal @ Chicago and vs. Charlotte, and Justen Glad in defense @ Kansas City and vs. the Red Bulls. Hector Herrera (HOU, $11.1) looks good in midfield vs. Minnesota and @ Colorado, and Denis Bouanga is a good forward option vs. St. Louis and @ Minnesota.
