Washington Spirit away games to air on NBC Sports Washington

Washington Spirit announced today that they have entered into an agreement with Monumental Sports & Entertainment to air nine of the team’s 11 regular season away games this season on regional cable affiliate NBC Sports Washington, beginning with this Saturday’s match against Racing Louisville. These games will also be available on Paramount+ or CBSSN, as previously scheduled.

As part of the agreement, NBC Sports Washington will provide live coverage of the games, in addition to promoting them on social media. Viewers can find specific information about whether NBC Sports Washington is available in their area on the company’s website.

While the NWSL has a partnership with CBS Sports to show all games on CBS and Paramount Plus, it has allowed individual teams to enter into regional broadcast agreements to show games on cable or broadcast in their local area.

The Monumental deal is an exciting one for the Spirit because it opens the door for even more fans to discover and follow the team without having to sign up for an exclusive streaming service. As fans who subscribe to Paramount+ know, it can be difficult to enjoy NWSL games outside of their own homes, as many bars and restaurants in the area do not carry the streaming service.

The remaining two away matches not on NBC Sports Washington – on Saturday, April 15 against North Carolina Courage and Friday, October 6 against OL Reign – will both stream on Paramount Plus, and all home matches will also be viewable on a CBS Sports platform.
