Rise and shine, soccer fam! I already told you on Twitter that I’m going to be insufferable for the foreseeable future, so I’m just going to lean in.
So you mean to tell us that we get NWSL on FIFA 23 and Ted Lasso on the same day? March 15 is blocked off on our calendars. Sorry to our bosses, but we won’t be at work.
EA Sports has entered into a partnership with the National Women’s Soccer League aimed at elevating the women’s game and authentic representation.
The official poster for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 was revealed yesterday, along with nine unique host city posters.
If you haven’t marked your calendar for March 15, what are you waiting for? Check out the Ted Lasso Season 3 trailer here:

Kerry, if you made that Rooney meme that is hilarious and I’m stealing it and sending it to all of my soccer friends!
It has been my proudest meme creation to date. Spread the word. 😉
I too enjoyed it, immensely….
Orlando in town, Rooney is already plotting something nasty for them…..
I put this in yesterday’s kicks far too late today, so I’ll repeat it here. For those having trouble logging into WordPress/Jetpack to comment here (stuck in a vicious loop of WordPress not finding your credentials), I also had this problem when we first started. The below steps have seemingly solved it:
Step 1: Log in using WordPress.
Step 2: On the Jetpack link asking you to connect with WordPress.com, click “Get help setting up Jetpack”
Step 3: Rather than filling out anything on the following page, go to the top right, select your account avatar, and select “Manage your sites”
Step 4: This should bring you to an approval page to link Jetpack.com and WordPress.com accounts. Select approve.
At this point, you can log in normally on Step 1 and everything should hopefully work. I have not had the problem occur since doing the above, but this all is, admittedly, just anecdotal.
Wow–I’m just very impressed by the volume of content that the DistrictPress soccer team of journalists has been producing. Great job Sarah and team! Very impressive.
The NWSL news with FIFA23 is really big news.
I wonder how we’ll see the roster change against Orlando? I’m thinking that Williams gets a start and Palsson may move to D-mid. And Canouse may take the hybrid Durkin role. Orlando has been very disconnected and not very fluid, not many chances so far this season. I’m thinking this is a game to start with a high press–seek to force some errors.
Last of all, inquiring minds want to know Sarah. Favorite restaurant in the DMV for Lebanese food? My go-to spot is Raouche Cafe near Merrifield.
Old staple since I was a kid: Lebanese Taverna, Arlington, on Washington Blvd. Dang good!
Good news/bad news for FIFA and NWSL. Good news, this is great exposure and a recognition of the growth and quality of the play in the league. Bad news is, ‘23 will be the last game FIFA and EA do together, so this might be the one good FIFA game they get to be in.
It’s continuing as EA Sports FC. Why FIFA is so greedy with its licensing it’ll kill the golden goose I don’t know.
DCU drops a rank in the MLS writer’s bureau power rankings to 23
The Relevant Sports case against FIFA banning teams playing league games outside of home country is going back to court. US Soccer is also listed as a defendant.
