DC Power FC hits the field tonight at Audi Field to take on the defending champions Tampa Bay Sun. DC Power is coming off a 2-0 win last weekend on the road against Spokane Zephyr and they’re hoping to earn more crucial points to climb in the Gainbridge Super League standings.

DC Power last saw Tampa Bay on the road last month, where they came from behind to draw 1-1. DC head coach Omid Namazi is not underestimating the defending champions, who sit at the bottom of the table after a struggle of a season.

“I think they’re still a quality team. I don’t think their record is indicative of the type of team they are,” Namazi said in media availability this week. “They might be struggling and I feel like they struggle with goal scoring and that’s what held them back. But they’ve created enough. I remember the last game we played. They deserved to win and we came out with a tie. But it was their lack of scoring or lack of finishing that kept us in the game and gave us a point. So we can’t, we can’t take them lightly at all. They can cause problems the way they play.”

DC Power is just three points below the playoff line with just eight games left to play, so every point counts. They hope to put more pressure on the teams ahead of them with a win tonight in front of the home fans.
