DC Power FC hits the road this afternoon to take on Spokane Zephyr in another big match. With DC Power in sixth place in the Gainbridge Super League standings, just two points behind Spokane and five points below the playoff line, this is a chance to make a move up the standings with a win.

Head coach Omid Namazi wasn’t happy with the result on Tuesday in the loss to Carolina Ascent, but he feels that “every match is a playoff match from here on out.” Getting to the playoffs is the goal, and the club signed defender Kiki Maki this week to help provide more defensive options. Still, the answer to DC Power’s inconsistencies lies in their finishing around goal, as they’re generating a lot of scoring chances but are finding it hard to put the ball in the net.

The chances are coming quickly, and DC Power has been aggressive at moving towards goal in the spring half of the season. They just need some of those chances to result in goals to relieve the pressure on the defense and widen the margins for error. They’ve scored fewer than 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches, and they haven’t scored 3 in a match since November 12th. They will need offense against a Spokane team that has scored 2+ goals in 4 of their last 5 matches.
