DC Power FC @ Brooklyn FC: Preview, time, and how to watch
DC Power FC hits the field after a 3 week layoff this afternoon when they face Brooklyn FC in Coney Island. DC Power is looking to grab more points to move up in the Gainbridge Super League standings.
This match was supposed to be played in April at Maimonides Park. However, Brooklyn FC ran up on a scheduling conflict with the Brooklyn Cyclones, the minor league baseball team who owns the park, and asked DC Power to play this weekend. DC Power head coach Omid Namazi said the team was ready to get back on the field after the lengthy layoff.
“I felt it was actually good for us to get back into the swing of things instead of this long period of time without having any games,” Namazi said in press availability this week. “So I welcomed it, and I feel the players did, too. They’re eager to get out there and compete.”
“I think the whole team, we were pumped because I think when you have such a long wait of games and it just drags on, you just want to play,” Hannah Richardson-Harney said. “So I think knowing that Brooklyn was approaching faster than it was going to, I think we locked in earlier and we don’t have much time to figure out everything. So as a whole, we were all excited that we were actually going to play sooner than later.”
They hope that this match on the road can be the start of stringing together consistent results. Currently, DC Power sits only 4 points below the playoff line, but they will have the opportunity to make up some ground as they have as many as three games in hand on teams above them in the standings. Getting a win against Brooklyn will set them up greatly to make a run at the top four.
