DC United win final preseason scrimmage, DC Power draw on road, and more: Presidents’ Day Freedom Kicks

Happy Monday, everyone. It’s Presidents’ Day in America, so it’s a federal holiday. It’s also finally game week for DC United, as they open up at home on Saturday! Lots to look forward to this week.

DC United was able to beat St. Louis City in their final scrimmage over the weekend. It’s a nice end to the preseason in a match which the team apparently played the majority of their starters.

In a closed door scrimmage, their final before the season begins next weekend, DC United beats St. Louis City 3-1 today. #DCU goals came from Baribo, Rowles, and Murrell. DC now travels home to prepare for their home opener next weekend against the Philadelphia Union.

DC Power FC claw back to get draw against Tampa Bay Sun (DP)

DC Power was able to grab a point on the road against the defending champions thanks to Claire Constant’s 63rd minute goal.

If you’re needing extra reason to head to Audi Field this weekend for the DC United opener, they have a couple of promotions. First, there are $20.20 tickets available online. And, since there will be a new Talon making his debut, kids can get in free with a companion ticket. Click the image below to head to that link to score those tickets if you want to bring your little ones.

Let’s rank the 2026 MLS jerseys (DP)

On Friday, I listed my take on the 2026 MLS jerseys, from worst to first. Check to see where DC United’s Black & Red kit placed and discuss which jerseys you think were the best this year.

Boston Legacy FC Release “First Light” Home Kit (Blazing Musket)

On the NWSL side, Boston Legacy are the first to debut their 2026 jersey. Their home jersey looks very similar to the Spirit’s Shockwave jersey, but in a neon green. Your thoughts?

San Diego shouldn’t have nice things, but apparently they’re gonna be rewarded with Cat coming to their roster.

Pellegrino Matarazzo: the American manager revitalizing Real Sociedad (The Guardian)

When Gregg Berhalter was fired as USMNT head coach, I mentioned on my pod that I would like to see Pellegrino Matarazzo get a serious look as the next coach. He’s doing well so far over in Spain.

Landon Donovan predicts Noahkai Banks will start for USMNT at World Cup (USA Today)

I don’t know if Banks will be starting at the World Cup since he doesn’t have a cap with the USMNT. Pochettino has said that the only guys that would be considered were guys that had been called in before last October. He is a part of that list, but has an uphill battle to get past some guys onto the final roster.

Haiti’s WNT has a new coach and–wait a minute! That’s Pia’s music!

Wow! After Malou Quignette announced his departure as Haiti women's national team head coach last week, the federation has announced that ex- #USWNT manager Pia Sundhage will take over.

To close out, 8 years ago today, Black Panther debuted in theaters. Take today to watch the movie and once again live the euphoria I had seeing this live out on the big screen. Let’s be stars this week.

Cat Macario is such a good player. Wish we had the cap space for her, Croix, and Trin. Alas you can’t have it all…
