USWNT vs. Paraguay, January 2026 Friendly: Preview, Time, and How to Watch
It’s the first U.S. Women’s National Team match of 2026! As part of their January camp, the team will face Paraguay, just the third time historically these teams have played.
Newly re-signed Washington Spirit player Trinity Rodman will captain the team for the first time in today’s match. She’s joined by a bevy of NWSL talent, including several of her own teammates: Tara Rudd (née McKeown), Kate Wiesner, Croix Bethune, and Hal Hershfelt. Coach Emma Hayes has promised their will be different squads for both of the matches in this camp, and with European players unavailable this window, it should be a good opportunity for those Spirit players and other newcomers to get some play time.
Paraguay are in the midst of the Conmebol Women’s Nations League and likely using this match to stay sharp before their next match in that competition, which could qualify them for the 2027 World Cup. Spirit fans will want to pay particular attention to forward Claudia Martínez, an 18 year-old goal scorer who reportedly will be joining Washington this year.

Great match by the USW–slow start in the final third but then it clicked. Love to see Rodman as Captain and also get a goal.
On a DCU matter, Goff announces the team is close to acquire Swiss right back Silvan Heft. I don’t have any other details on that. He evidently is a right back-right sided midfielder. What this tells me is that either the team is going to play with a back 3 (and Herrera plays as a CB) or Herrera is surplus to requirements (which I’d hate to see).
