International Preview: Spirit and DC Power Players Called Up For Their Countries

Are you feeling local soccer withdrawal with D.C. United, the Spirit, and Loudoun done for the year and D.C. Power off until December 6th? Well, you’re in luck. The final international window of the year is about to kick open and features 13 matches with 10 local players. The games are spread across what is traditionally a long holiday weekend for Americans. Washington Spirit

Croix Bethune and Kate Wiesner (United States)

The Spirit duo will join the USWNT for a pair of games in Florida against teammate Sofia Cantore and the Italian Women’s National Team. Bethune has made four previous appearances for the Stars and Stripes. For Wiesner, it is her first “official” national team call up. She served as a practice player in Emma Hayes’ first camp last year.

Rebeca Bernal (Mexico)

Mexico will begin its qualifying campaign for next year’s Concacaf W Championship during this international window. Bernal, who recently served La Tri’s captain, has appeared 68 times for Mexico at the senior level. She’s scored eight international goals across all her appearances. This year, she has appeared 8 times for her country and has a goal and an assist.

Sofia Cantore (Italy)

NWSL’s first Italian player will join her nation as they face off against the USWNT. Since her debut for Le Azzurre in 2020, Cantore has appeared in 46 matches and scored 5 goals. In 2025, she has appeared in 12 matches, including five matches in Italy’s run to the UEFA Women’s EURO this summer.

Sandy MacIver (Scotland)

The Spirit backup goalkeeper will join Scotland for their two upcoming friendlies against Ukraine and the People’s Republic of China. MacIver has featured five times for her country, with one appearance in 2025, and has two shutouts to her credit.

Esme Morgan (England)

Morgan will join the reigning UEFA Women’s Euro champions for a pair of matches during this international window. Morgan has made 18 appearances for the Lionesses over the last five years. Morgan has made eight appearances for England this year.

Narumi Miura (Japan)

Narumi will join the Japanese National Team for a pair of friendlies against Canada. She has featured for Japan 34 times over the last seven years. Three of Narumi’s appearances have come in 2025.

Leicy Santos (Colombia)

Santos will join Colombia as they continue on in the CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League. Since her initial appearance for Colombia in January 2013, Santos has appeared on behalf of her country 67 times, including in two World Cups and the Rio de Janeiro and Paris Olympics and scored 13 goals. In 2025, she’s appeared 15 times for Colombia and has five goals and four assists. Entering into this round of matches, Colombia sits on top of the table with a 2-0-0 record, six points, and a +4 goal differential.

DC Power

Jaydah Bedoya (Puerto Rico)

Bedoya will join Puerto Rico for their World Cup Qualifier against Saint Lucia. Bedoya previously made two appearances for Ecuador before executing a switch to Puerto Rico. This is Bedoya’s first call up for Puerto Rico.

Charlie Estcourt (Wales)

Estcourt will join Wales for a pair of friendlies against South Korea and Switzerland to finish out the year. She has made 19 appearances for Cymru and scored a goal.

Claire Constant (Haiti)

Constant will join Haiti as the start their CONCACAF W Qualifying campaign. Constant has appeared 6 times previously for The Grenadiers.
