International Round Up: How Did D.C. United and Loudoun United Players Do During the International Window?
The last men’s international window for 2025 is officially closed. How did the four D.C. United and one Loudoun United representatives on international rosters do? Let’s take a look.
Aaron Herrera and Arquimides Ordonez (Guatemala)
Despite being eliminated from World Cup contention in their previous match, a 3-2 loss to Panama, Guatemala still had the potential to influence who won Group A on the final day of qualifying. Arquimides Ordonez didn’t make Guatemala’s bench for the match. Aaron Herrera, however, started on defense for Los Chapines and went the full 90 minutes. FOTMOB gave Herrera a 7.7 rating for a performance that saw him complete 86% (32/37) of his passes and create three chances.
Guatemala defeated Suriname off 3-1, allowing Panama to win the group. Suriname will go to the inter-confederation playoff in an attempt to clinch their first ever World Cup Final spot.
Aaron Herrera finishes 2025 with 13 appearances for Guatemala and 744 minutes played. Ordonez appeared on behalf of Guatemala nine times, played 308 minutes, and scored one goal.
Kye Rowles (Australia)
Rowles started for Australia in their 3-0 friendly loss to Colombia at Citi Field in Queens. He went 60 minutes and earned a yellow card. He earned a 6.5 rating from FOTMOB and completed 13 of 18 passes (72%).
In 2025, Rowles appeared for the Socceroos three times and played 203 minutes.
Matti Peltola (Finland)
Peltola started on the bench for the Huuhkajat and subbed in at the 62nd minute for Finland in their 4-0 friendly victory against Andorra on Monday. He completed 85% of his attempted passes (28/33) and FOTMOB rated his 28 minute shift a 6.3. The match served as a send of for the Finnish National Team’s all time leading scorer, Teemu Pukki. The former Minnesota United striker netted a goal before being subbed off in the 72nd minute. Pukki finished his international career with 43 goals in 133 caps.
Peltola made nine appearances for Finland in 2025, racking up 414 minutes played and two yellow cards.
Jackson Hopkins (United States U-21)
Hopkins started on the bench for the US U-21 and played the last 16 minutes in their 1-0 defeat in Serbia. The international calendar will break until the new year and pick up again in March before going into full World Cup mode in June.
