D.C. United and Loudoun’s seasons are over. That doesn’t mean all of the players from both teams are sitting on a beach somewhere sipping on drinks with umbrellas in them. Some still have meaning matches remaining this year. Aaron Herrera and Arquimides Ordonez were both called in to try and help Guatemala with their World Cup qualifying matches. Rowles will join Australia as they continue preparations for next summer.

Aarron Herrera and Arquimides Ordonez (Guatemala)

Herrera has made 11 appearances for Guatemala World Cup Qualifiers and the Gold Cup in 2025. In total, Herrera has been on the field for 564 minutes for Los Chapines. In total, Herrera has made 21 appearances for Guatemala since 2023.

Ordonez has featured eight times for Los Chapines in 2025 in the Gold Cup and World Cup qualifiers. He’s started two of those eight matches and played 274 minutes.

Situation

Going into the final two matches of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying, Guatemala sits in third place behind Panama and Suriname in a wide-open Group A. Sitting just one point back of qualifying for their first World Cup, Guatemala holds their fate in their own hands. They will face both teams ahead of them in the final two matches.

Kye Rowles (Australia)

For Rowles, this is his third call up to the Australian National Team of 2025. He has appeared in two games for the Socceroos playing 86 minutes against Indonesia in a World Cup Qualifier in March and 57 minutes in a friendly against Canada last month. In total, Rowles has appeared for Australia 30 times and scored one goal.

Situation

Australia is already qualified for next summer’s World Cup. In preparation for next summer, Australia will face some tough South American competition in the United States. First, they will face Venezuela in Houston. Then they will face James Rodriguez, Luiz Diaz, and Los Cafeteros, who have already qualified for the World Cup, in Queens, New York.
