MLS Fantasy Focus: The Last Dance

We’re heading into the final round of the MLS Fantasy season. We may not have any drama at the top of the league, but I still have to call attention to the fact that YOUR BOY Seoul Train led the league once again this round with 132 points. That may have taken a big chunk out of Nouhou Big Summer Blowout‘s overall lead, but their 93-point gap at the top is too big to overcome in one round.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers
Chicago’s Chris Brady ($6.9) saved a penalty in one of his games, leading the position with 10 points. Behind him was the clean sheet trio of Kristijan Kahlina (CLT, $10.1), Dayne St. Clair (MIN, $9.8) and Rafael Cabral (RSL, $7.8), each of whom scored 8 points. DCU’s Luis Barraza ($5.3) scored -2 points.

Defenders
Jordi Alba (MIA, $10.0) scored two goals and tallied an assist on the way to 20 points, leading the defenders just ahead of Anthony Markanich (MIN, $7.4) who kept a clean sheet and scored twice on the way to 19 points. Jack Elliott (CHI, $7.8) was third with two goals and 11 points. The D.C. defenders were Matti Peltola ($4.0) with 4 points; Lucas Bartlett ($5.0) and Kye Rowles ($4.0) with 2; the trio of David Schnegg ($4.0), Conner Antley ($4.0) and Lukas MacNaughton ($4.0) with 1, and Aaron Herrera ($4.0) with -2.

Midfielders
Sebastian Berhalter (VAN, $12.8) contributed two goals and an assist, leading the midfielders on 17 points. Right behind him were Joaquin Pereyra (MIN, $10.4), with a goal, an assist, and 16 points, and Marcel Hartel (STL, $12.6), who scored two goals and 15 points. The United midfield featured Jackson Hopkins ($6.1) with 4 points, Gabriel Pirani ($8.7) with 2, and Joao Peglow ($6.0) and Caden Clark ($5.0) with 1.

Forwards
Surprise! Lionel Messi (MIA, $17.8) tallied three assists on the way to 23 points, leading the forwards and all players. Meanwhile, his teammate, Tadeo Allende ($7.2), scored 18 points on the strength of two goals, and Luis Suarez ($11.5) completed the Miami sweep with two goals of his own and 16 points. D.C.’s forwards were Christian Benteke ($10.0) with 3 points and Dominique Badji ($4.0) with 1.

Looking Ahead
The final round of the 2025 season spans two weekends and includes a set of midweek games this week. One team (LAFC) plays three times, nine teams (Miami, Atlanta, Orlando, Vancouver, Seattle, RSL, the Galaxy, Dallas, and Austin) play twice, and everyone else plays once. It should go without saying that this anomaly of LA playing three times should mean you put three of their players (Son Heung-min and Denis Bouanga for starters) in your team. Beyond that, I like Stefan Frei (SEA, $6.7) in goal vs. RSL and at NY, and Alex Freeman (ORL, $9.9) in defense vs. Vancouver and at Toronto. Thomas Muller (VAN, $12.0) is your midfield man at Orlando and vs. Dallas, and Petar Musa (DAL, $13.5) is your man at forward at the Galaxy and at Vancouver.
