DC Power FC @ Carolina Ascent: Preview, time, and how to watch

DC Power FC is back after a 16-day layoff as they resume league play this evening on the road against Carolina Ascent. They have some ground to make up in the standings, as they’re currently 6th in the league table. However, they have several games in hand on the teams above them and carry a 1W-0L-3D record into Charlotte tonight. Head coach Omid Namazi said the team had been working on finishing out games so that some of those draws can turn into 3 full points. “I thought that Brooklyn [FC] game was a little disappointing,” Namazi said in press availability earlier this week. “As good as we played in the first half, we should have been able to have more of a killer instinct and put that game away in the second half.” Namazi hopes the layoff doesn’t bring rust into the equation against a Carolina team that likes to start with a fast pace.

He will rely on his players that have started off the season with confidence. Defender Sydney Cummings, midfielder Alexis Theoret, and forward Gianna Gourley all made the Super League Team of the Month for September, and it has helped the team get out to a faster start on the season. “Those three players, they’re the spine of our team in Syd in the middle of our back [line], Alexis as a 6 and then Gianna as our number 9,” Namazi said. “It’s all well deserved. I think their play has justified the fact that they’re in the team of the month…[We] look forward to having a couple more players on that on the next team of the month.”

As October takes flight, DC Power hopes their fast start continues as they seek 3 points on the road.
