DC Power FC vs. Spokane Zephyr: Preview, time, and how to watch

DC Power FC will step out of the tunnel at Audi Field tonight for their home opener against Spokane Zephyr. DC Power is hoping to build off a road win last weekend in their season opener against Sporting Jacksonville.

DC Power hopes to continue the scoring and figure out ways to excite the fans at Audi Field with a controlled tempo that yields a lot of scoring chances. With quite a few offseason additions, they also hope to continue building the chemistry they’ve created in the summer.

“We’ve been working since preseason, every game, every practice, just going out there, competing for something greater than ourselves,” DC Power forward Jaydah Bedoya said in press availability on Thursday. “Wearing this badge means something, so I think we’re trying to just relay that message into games and into practices that we’re here to win this season and we’re here to make a statement and we’re here to compete.”

They’ve worked towards this moment, a chance to get a win in their home opener. “It’s an exciting time with players having friends and family and the support of our fans behind them,” head coach Omid Namazi said. We look forward to this game. We had a good result going into Jacksonville and coming out of that game. So we look to continue that streak and keep it going in the same way, maybe different in terms of how we approach the game tactically. But the end result, we’re looking for three points.”

Spokane Zephyr enters this match having battled Dallas Trinity FC to a draw on the road in their first match. Fatigue may factor into this match, but DC Power is just excited at being able to step out in front of their home fans and play for the win.

It seems to me that the Spirit should be using the Power as the team to send players to for PT (like Deb Abiodun) when they’re not on the roster. It makes it easy for Spirit coaching staff to observe the players, they’re close by if they need to be “called up” from the loan due to injuries to first team players.
