DC Power FC @ Sporting Jacksonville: Preview, time, and how to watch
DC Power FC is back and they kick off the 2025-26 season tonight against Sporting Jacksonville. With several new additions to the squad and a new head coach in Omid Namazi, the team is hoping to get started on the right foot with a win against the newest team in the USL Super League.
DC Power would like to put last season behind them, where they finished in 7th out of 8 teams in the inaugural season of what is now called the Gainbridge Super League after the league gained a naming sponsor.
For DC Power, it’s a chance to start fresh and, with the newly revamped roster, look to really take some strides starting with the early part of the season. The team has a new captain in Susanna Fitch, who was the team’s iron woman last year, playing all but 12 minutes the entire season. Head coach Omid Namazi said the selection of Fitch as captain was “completely my call,” and indicated that he and the coaching staff thought that Fitch was the type of captain he needed for this “fresh start.”
They go up against Sporting Jacksonville, an expansion team that will be playing in their debut match as a club. Fitch chuckled in Thursday’s press availability when recalling that the team also opened on the road last season in the league’s debut match – “It was interesting that they scheduled us as Jacksonville’s first match,” she said – but it brings the potential to show that their team is more cohesive and ready to take it to a club that may just be starting to put things together. It provides the drama for the opener of the 2025-26 season.
