MLS Fantasy Focus: Gucci Agyemang
This round it was Hobart Pirates setting the pace, with a score of 96 points. That was just one point more than our overall leader, Nouhou Big Summer Blowout, who widened their margin at the top to 54 points.
Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
Carlos Coronel (NYR, $8.4) kept a clean sheet on the way to 9 points, just ahead of Stefan Frei (SEA, $7.4), whose clean sheet was good enough for 8 points. Pedro Gallese (ORL, $9.0) kept a clean sheet of his own for 7 points. DCU’s Luis Barraza ($6.3) scored 2 points.
Defenders
Houston’s Griffin Dorsey ($9.0) paired a goal and an assist for 10 points, leading the defenders. Trailing him was the pair of Kim Kee-Hee (SEA, $6.1) and Tim Parker (NYR, $5.5) with a clean sheet and 9 points each. For United it was Aaron Herrera ($6.6) and Lucas Bartlett ($5.2) with 2 points each, Kye Rowles ($4.5) with 1, and David Schnegg ($5.0) with -1.
Midfielders
A trio of players led the midfielders with 12 points. Evander (CIN, $13.1) had an assist and a bunch of bonus points, while Diego Luna (RSL, $11.0) and Pep Biel (CLT, $11.0) had a goal and an assist each. The D.C. midfield featured Joao Peglow ($8.5) and Boris Enow ($4.0) with 2 points, and the quartet of Hosei Kijima ($5.3), Brandon Servania ($5.0), Jared Stroud ($4.7), and Jackson Hopkins ($4.7) with 1.
Forwards
Patrick Agyemang (CLT, $8.6) scored a brace on the way to 15 points, leading the forwards and all players. Just behind him was the 14-point pair of Sam Surridge (NSH, $11.0) and Brian White (VAN, $10.6), who each scored two goals of their own. For D.C. it was just Jacob Murell ($4.0) with 1 point.
Looking Ahead
It’s another two-game bonanza this round. LAFC is on bye, St. Louis, Portland, Kansas City, Chicago, Vancouver, and Colorado play once, and everyone else plays twice. I like Roman Celentano (CIN, $7.5) in goal vs. Dallas and DCU, and Ilay Feingold (NE, $8.3) in defense at DCU and Montreal. In midfield watch Martin Ojeda’s (ORL, $11.9) status to make sure he’s at least playing at Atlanta, and hopefully vs. Chicago, and at forward it’s Tai Baribo (PHI, $9.8) at Toronto and Dallas.
