MLS Fantasy Focus: Oh Hey Ojeda
Hobart Pirates scored 110 points this round to lead the league. At the top of the table,
Nouhou Big Summer Blowout stretched their overall lead to 12 points.
Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
Carlos Coronel (NYR, $8.4) led the goalkeepers with 9 points on the strength of a clean sheet. Trailing him were three players who earned a clean sheet and 8 points — Sean Johnson (TOR, $7.9), Daniel (SJ, $6.0), and Maxime Crepeau (POR, $6.1). For United, it was Luis Barraza ($5.3) with 3 points.
Defenders
San Jose’s DeJuan Jones ($7.8) paired a goal with a clean sheet on the way to a position-leading 13 points. Behind him was Omar Valencia (NYR, $8.0), who added an assist to a clean sheet for 11 points, ahead of Vitor Costa (SJ, $5.0), who did the same for 10 points. The D.C. scorers were Aaron Herrera ($6.8) with 4 points, the pair of David Schnegg ($4.3) and Kye Rowles ($4.5) with 2, Conner Antley ($4.2) with 1, and Lucas Bartlett ($4.2) scoring -1.
Midfielders
A pair of players split the positional and overall lead with 21 points, as Martin Ojeda (ORL, $11.4) scored a hat trick, and Emil Forsberg (NYR, $9.9) tallied two goals and two assists. In the rearview was Cincinnati’s Evander ($12.2) who scored 14 points on a goal and an assist. The DCU midfield featured both Brandon Servania ($5.3) and Boris Enow ($4.0) with 3 points; both Hosei Kijima ($6.1) and Jared Stroud ($5.4) with 2; and the trio of Rida Zouhir ($4.0), Randall Leal ($5.2), and Fidel Barajas ($4.3) with 1.
Forwards
Two tied for the positional lead, with both Brian White (VAN, $9.6) and Eric Choupo-Moting (NYR, $9.1) scoring a brace and 13 points. Not far off was Prince Owusu (MTL, $7.2) who scored a goal and 12 points. For D.C. it was Christian Benteke ($11.2) with 4 points, and Jacob Murrell ($4.0) with 1.
Looking Ahead
The double-game week is back! Everyone but Dallas, Chicago, Vancouver, and New England plays twice, so you can load up on two-gamers. In goal I like Dayne St. Clair (MIN, $9.2) @Houston and vs. St. Louis, and in defense it’s Kai Wagner (PHI, $10.9) vs. the Galaxy and @Atlanta. I like Hany Mukhtar (NSH, $11.5) in midfield vs. the Red Bulls and DCU, and at forward it’s Tai Baribo (PHI, $8.8).
