MLS Fantasy Focus: As a man sows, so Salloi

Pitch PerfectFC set the pace this round with a robust 107 points, while Nouhou Big Summer Blowout still leads overall, extending their lead to 23 points.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers
Seattle’s Stefan Frei ($6.9) and Orlando’s Pedro Gallese ($6.5) split the goalkeeper lead with 9 points, each keeping a clean sheet. Right behind them was a rack of players with 8 points, including Brad Stuver (ATX, $9.1), Dayne St. Clair (MIN, $8.6), and Sean Johnson ($7.2), each of them also keeping a clean sheet. D.C.’s Luis Barraza ($5.8) scored 4 points.

Defenders
Charlotte teammates Andrew Privett ($7.4) and Adilson Malanda ($9.3) were first and third, with Privett scoring 14 points on a goal and an assist, and Malanda scoring 9 on a clean sheet. Between them was Marcelo Weigandt (MIA, $5.9), who tallied a clean sheet, an assist, and 11 points. The United defense was led by Aaron Herrera ($6.3) with 6 points; followed by David Schnegg ($4.4) with 3; the trio of Lukas MacNaughton ($5.6), Lucas Bartlett ($4.9), and Kye Rowles ($4.6) with 2; and both Matti Peltola ($4.7) and Derek Dodson ($4.0) with 1.

Midfielders
Daniel Salloi (SKC, $7.3) scored a brace and added an assist on the way to 17 points, leading the midfielders and all players. Meanwhile, Cincinnati’s Evander ($10.7) scored a brace of his own and 15 points, just ahead of Joao Peglow (DCU, $8.1), who doesn’t get bonus points for his overhead kick, but scored two goals and 14 points anyway. The other DCU midfielders were Jared Stroud ($5.9) with 4 points, Hosei Kijima ($5.6) and Brandon Servania ($5.2) with 2, and Boris Enow ($4.7) with 1.

Forwards
Denis Bouanga (LA) paired a goal with an assist, leading the forwards with 16 points, just ahead of Cristian Arango (SJ, $11.1), who scored 15 points on the strength of two goals. Portland’s Felipe Mora ($8.3) rounded out the top three with a brace and 14 points. The scorers for United were Christian Benteke ($11.6), Jacob Murrell ($4.2), and Dominique Badji ($4.0) with 1 point each.

Looking Ahead
This round I like Kristijan Kahlina (CLT, $8.4) in goal vs. New England, and Robin Jansson (ORL, $7.0) in defense vs. Atlanta. Djordje Mihailovic (COL, $10.7) has scored double-digits in three of his last four games, so play him in midfield vs. Seattle, and Tai Baribo (PHI, $8.9) is your man at forward vs. DCU.

Blasian has followed soccer since the mid-90s, and D.C. United since 1996. Though he now lives in Seoul, South Korea, he follows MLS as closely as he can. He's a half-Korean and an adoptee, things about which he's happy to talk to you if you cross paths with him on Twitter or Instagram at @BlasianSays.
