USA vs. Brazil: April 2025 women’s friendly match thread
The United States Women’s National Team kick off a pair of friendlies against Brazil this evening, the first meeting between these teams since the gold medal match of last year’s Olympics.
“Triple Espresso,” the attacking trio that led the US to victory in the Olympics, have not been available to the National Team since then, but one member, Trinity Rodman, makes her return for this series. She is joined by fellow Washington Spirit players Ashley Hatch, who hasn’t represented the US since she was passed over for a spot in the 2023 World Cup roster; and Tara McKeown, who could play a big role in the wake of injuries to center backs Naomi Girma and Tierna Davidson.
These matches will be the first of the year for Brazil, though they closed out 2024 with three straight wins. They’re joined by a number of players who will be familiar to fans of the NWSL, including Kansas City goalkeeper Lorena, Gotham FC’s Bruninha, and Manchester City’s Kerolin.

Wow, Rodman scores after just 5 minutes! So happy she’s back
All three saw the field!
Sorry for leaving the thread empty, Annie, was watching with my friend. We both thought it was a good game. Brazil were only a notch less physical than Colombia, and I hope the next game has no injuries, as well. Lily is so damn good, but we all knew that.
I thought that goal by Rodman just showed superb dynamic ability by Thompson and a sweet run in to space by Rodman.
The finish was also stellar, honestly. Underrated ability to see which side the goalie was favoring, and immediately outside the foot shot to the other corner with supreme accuracy and confidence.
That said, yeah, Alyssa is a firecracker this year
Sorry was watching Old Glory DC beat Seattle Sea Wolves 29-12. Great defense supported by a strong offensive effort saw OGDC to victory. They went down 5-0 and then proceeded to score 29 straight before Seattle scored again in the final ten minutes. OGDC moves to 3-2-0 on the season. They will likely be sitting 2nd in the east after the weekend.
