DC Power FC vs. Brooklyn FC: Preview, time, and how to watch
DC Power FC is back in action this afternoon when they host Brooklyn FC in USL Super League action at Audi Field. DC Power is hoping to regroup from a last minute loss last weekend on the road to Spokane Zephyr, the type of loss that can derail a team’s progress. However, DC Power has taken it in stride and sought to put the gutwrenching ending from last weekend behind them.
“Yeah, we we kind of we joke around about it a little bit. We’re like, how unlucky can we get with some of these things,” midfielder Anna Bagley said in this week’s press availability. “[It] wasn’t that that big for us to push past because we know it’s something we can control, and we know it once we clean up these little things and really hone in on our set pieces, we’re gonna be winning these games instead of always having to come back.”
The team has been creating more opportunities so far in the spring portion of the USL Super League season, and they’ve been converting some of those chances into goals. However, mistakes have cost them in their losses to Lexington SC and Spokane Zephyr, and the team is hoping to put those mistakes in the rearview as well.
DC Power is currently at the bottom of the USL Super League standings, and they face a Brooklyn FC team that is second in the table but is reeling after three straight losses where they were outscored a combined 11-0. That gives DC Power some hope that their growing confidence can lead to goals, but they hope to not concede on set pieces and turnovers.
“We don’t win many first contacts. and that’s a very big thing in set pieces,” interim coach Phil Nana said during press availability earlier this week. “We’re losing in that battle. And in the second phase, if we do get the first contact, the second phase in clearing the ball is very poor on our end. So as a staff, we need to figure out how we can improve this with our team.” The team hopes to show that improvement on the field this afternoon against Brooklyn in a win they need to gain some ground on the teams above the playoff line.

Well, let’s see….DC United got their clocks cleaned by Orlando, the Spirit got shut out at home by the Current, the USMNT lost to Canada, and the DC Power managed a late draw. I’d say overall, an extremely sucky weekend for soccer in the DC area.
