It’s the second day of the She Believes Cup, which means it’s time for some Sunday afternoon soccer!
First up, Colombia will play Japan, pitting Washington Spirit teammates Leicy Santos and Narumi Miura against each other. Then, the United States will take on Australia, who struggled in the first match and may be the weakest of this year’s competitors.
On day one, the USWNT and Japan both won their matches, with Japan currently in the lead on point differential. There’s still plenty of time to earn points before the competition wraps up on Thursday evening, though.

Yowza. Just tuned in fast enough to see a highlight of the early Japan goal.
To be clear, I don’t think Japan are the bad guys, by any stretch, if anything, they’re super virtuous in a number of ways, on and off the field. That said, these performances are very much reminiscent of the antagonist path to a final of a sports movie. Hope US takes care of business against Australia

And Colombia looks to have injured their first player. Looks like she hit maybe her sits bone on the metal thing that holds the flag up, broke the flag clean off.
I genuinely cannot stand their approach to the beautiful game, I know it’s a contact sport, but to me, Colombia have shown themselves to be light on the sport part of that. And it makes me angry to watch.

Shaw has to be so frustrating to defend in the box, her futsal touch is nauseatingly good
Will be interesting to see who starts in the final game of She Believes, but I’d like to see Mckeown and Sams at CB.
