Mariah Lee departs DC Power FC

There are more changes coming to DC Power FC’s front line. This morning, DC Power officially announced that forward Mariah Lee and the team have decided to part ways by mutual consent. The move comes just a week after Jorian Baucom was traded to Fort Lauderdale FC.

Lee announced her departure from the club last night in a social media post, which is where fans learned a move was coming.

“We want to thank Mariah for her contributions to the team in our inaugural season and wish her luck in the future,” DC Power sporting director Steven Birnbaum said in a statement.

Lee signed with DC Power in July as a heralded signing from Adelaide United, and is a player that has several years of experience in leagues abroad. Prior to her time in Australia, Lee spent time at Lugano, Celtic, FC Nordjælland, and Sporting de Huelva. She also spent time with then-OL Reign in the NWSL. In 12 appearances this season for DC Power, 6 of them starts, she logged 579 minutes with 8 shots on goal.

DC Power will now search for other options as they prepare for the start of the spring portion of the USL Super League season later this month.

This sure sounds like a franchise in disarray. Coach dismissed, multiple starters departing, no idea of incoming talent. Ugh!
