USA vs. Venezuela, 2025 Mens’ Friendly: Time, TV schedule, and match thread
The United States Men’s National Team host their first match of 2025 this afternoon, playing Venezuela as part of their January Camp.
The group includes a number of unfamiliar faces for the US, consisting largely of MLS players because the camp does not take place during an official FIFA window. This is head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s first January Camp and gives him a chance to evaluate players with less international experience before a pair of CONCACAF tournaments (Nations League Finals and Gold Cup) later this year.
Venezuela, also known as La Vinotinto, are coached by Fernando Batista and looking ahead to a year of World Cup qualification matches. They are currently just outside of qualifying in the CONMEBOL standings, having failed to win since June of last year. This, in addition to the lack of a FIFA window, could account for the number of inexperienced players in their roster, including 11 uncapped players and 17 with three or fewer caps.

Hey, Annie, everything seems in order but the title of the article, which says Mexico 2024 currently, not Venezuela 2025. Thanks for the thread!
Ugh! I thought I fixed it! Struggling with WordPress today
All good!
This will be the first time that I legitimately have never heard of about 4 players in the lineup. That likely is strong evidence of my indifference to other MLS club players. But geez, this is feeling like a bit of a waste of time.
Just a horrific PK execution, though. What the absolute fuck
I came into the game late, but it comes as no surprise that the guy kicked out of Montreal for moonlighting as an indoor soccer player didn’t do so well with it.
He was very certain claiming the ball for the spot kick, executed like a fucking chump.
Penalty for the US less than two minutes in. Venezuela leapt to defend, unfortunately the ball was long gone
Agyemang really throwing himself about, not sure what Balogun or Pepi would look like against what appears to be pretty low competition
Mcglynn with a long ranged goal. Felt like the goalie probably could have done better, but this game needed it.
Then Agyemang picks ups a deflection that goes behind the backline, goes under the goalie. 2-0
Didn’t Mcglynn score one of those screamers against DC United last season? Maybe 5-1o yards further out? Agyemang looks like a real find. Miljevic’s pk take was just putrid. I might have stopped that.
Agyemang’s skillset I’d say should (hopefully) mean we stop eyeing Brandon Vazquez.
Hate to say it, but Miljevic had some good moments this half, capped off with a goal.
Miljevic gets a damn good goal on the half volley from outside the box, but just never take a PK again
Amen to that.
Venezuela get a goal back off a corner, easy header. Looked like Moore and Robinson challenged each other rather than the player
I sincerely hope, for Venezuela’s sake, this is their C-Team, cuz you can’t say they don’t want to get back into this, and this is definitely a scrub squad frustrating them at 3-1
The mighty cupcakes prevail against a Raisin Bran muffin from Venezuela
Takeaway: our junior varsity is better off Venezuela’s junior varsity. Or is it C-team vs C-team?
Better than, that is.
