DC Power FC vs. Carolina Ascent FC: Preview, time, and how to watch

DC Power FC return to Audi Field this afternoon to take on Carolina Ascent FC. The two teams first met in the inaugural match of the USL Super League back on August 17th, which was a 1-0 road loss for DC.

DC Power have changed quite a bit since that inaugural match, with many additions to the squad and a change in their tactics. It has worked recently, with the team having two wins and a draw in their last three matches. They hope to continue that against a Carolina team that’s in second place in the USL Super League table with 17 points.

DC Power FC added a forward this week when they announced the signing of former England youth international Nicole Douglas. Douglas, the 26th pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft by the Washington Spirit, was destined to sign with DC Power much earlier, but visa issues required her to return to England to sort that out before DC Power could sign her. She adds to a forward group that has been pushing the envelope week after week, and head coach Fred Brillant said he’s confident that she can bring even more to the field once she’s ready to play.

Forward Mariah Lee said in Friday’s press conference that she’s enjoying building the relationship with the other forwards. She knows she can get behind most defenders, but it’s the pocket created by someone else’s movement where she says she’s seen more success. The ability for DC Power to utilize so many people in their attack and fill the space created by the defense being on their back heels has led to a lot of their success the past few weeks. They hope that this afternoon’s match ends with another win for them at home and leaping above the playoff line in the USL Super League table.
