DC Power collect another draw, BOS Nation retracts ad release, and more: Thursday Freedom Kicks
Happy Thursday, everyone. Hopefully it’s a nice day today, and hope to see some of you at the Spirit home finale on Sunday!
DC Power FC battles Dallas Trinity FC to scoreless draw (DP)
DC Power are steadily improving, yet they were unable to add to their win total last night. They draw Dallas Trinity 0-0. And some Spirit players were in the house!
BOS Nation (yeah, that name’s gotta go) starts their mea culpa tour by apologizing for their Too Many Balls campaign, which was incredibly odd and, more importantly, insensitive.
D.C. United Launches Full-Time Academy Program (DCU)
DC United will now have a full time academy program, beginning with their U-16s. This should be really good and hopefully will help continue to develop some area talent into future Black-and-Red stars.
USMNT to play Jamaica in Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals (SSFC)
The USMNT will take on Jamaica at The Office in Kingston and then in St. Louis next month in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals. I’m excited and am planning to be at both matches!
USMNT: Mauricio Pochettino urges patience after Mexico loss (ESPN)
Patience is the key for the USMNT. This according to Mauricio Pochettino after the team loses to Mexico for the first time in 5 years.
England’s new coach is Thomas Tuchel, much to the ire of a segment of their fanbase because he’s not English (a dumb thing to worry about when they all wanted Pep Guardiola). However, Tuchel has a plan that he hopes will steer England towards success.
BlueHalo to become the Presenting Partner of the new BlueHalo Lounge at Audi Field (DCU)
There will be a new lounge next year at Audi Field, but you’re gonna have to pony up $7,000 per seat for a season to be in there. I can also tell you BlueHalo signage is already up at Audi Field and you will see it this weekend.
USA Soccercast, Episode 143: Getting Dos A Cero’d leaves October window with bitter taste (SSFC)
On the latest episode of my podcast, I discuss why the team feels like it went backwards against Mexico and what they need to do to get better by next month’s Nations League.
MLS commissioner joins calls for Fifa to ‘be strategic’ over football fixtures (The Guardian)
Sorry, it’s real funny to me for Don Garber to complain about schedule congestion, but here he is doing it again.
Enjoy the day!

That seems, funny, to have the Spirit attending the Power match. And it’s HUGE that DCU finally has a real, full-time academy. Now, if only we’d get MLS Next/Pro up and running seriously.
Blue Halo lounge….
$7000 per seat. So, I move from midfield C5 to C9 and get some upgraded grub….everything else is the same, meaning the perks are the same….
So, $14,000 to impress my girlfriend even more, vs my shameful contribution to her entertainment at $6,000 for the two of us in C5….$8,000 difference. Rhine-Danube cruise or Blue Halo…..? 20 nights out at superb restaurants or chow at Blue Halo? An engagement ring or Blue Halo?
She selects: All the Above…..
Re Blue Halo Lounge. Meanwhile, the best seats in the house are Sections 126-128 in the West Stands for $1,400 per season. (Hey, don’t tell DC United management.)
Come on David, you and I can hang with some seriously cool soccer fans in the Blue Halo Lounge. Thar’s proper use of my IRA funding…..
Invite me over for a snack sometime. Meanwhile, I’ll stick with my seat almost at midfield less than 60 feet from a player throwing the ball in from the sideline … and far enough under the (at-last completed) roof that I don’t get rained on unless a very strong wind is blowing from the east.
Will they have pupusas?
We need more pupusarias at Buzzard Point.
