Washington Spirit (finally) release Trinity Rodman bobbleheads
Over a year after Washington Spirit announced their team’s first ever bobblehead, fans have begun to receive their Trinity Rodman bobbleheads.
Initially offered last February as a 2023 season ticket purchase incentive, delays in the production process mean that the figures are only being shipped now, though all 2023 ticket holders should still be receiving them. The biggest delay seems to have been dissatisfaction with the initial design, causing the team to head back to the drawing board in search of a figure that better represented their star player.
Asked about the bobbleheads in November 2023, the Spirit released this statement:
“We are committed to giving our fans the highest quality items and to making sure Trinity is well represented in the final product. The initial models did not meet our standards and we will not compromise them. We are proud of the final design and look forward to distributing them to our deserving fans as soon as possible.”

The finished product is a bobblehead figure just over 5 inches in height, depicting Rodman in a black kit with the word “Spirit” on it and with a soccer ball at her feet. As is often the case, the bobbleheads do not bear a particularly strong resemblance to the player they represent. We at The District Press were particularly sad not to see Rodman’s trademark diamond tooth stud.

What do you think of the bobbleheads? Will you be looking for one to grace your desktop?

Well, if this meets the “standards” I shudder to imagine what the previous bobblehead was that didn’t make the grade.
The face looks identical to my Andy Najar bobblehead from many years ago – down to the diamond stud earring. That “gift” is Levienesque – ranks right along with the tin box for DCU STHs and the “Season Ticket Memeber” card they sent out last year. To paraphrase the late Casey Stengel, “can’t anyone here to promotions right?”
You hit that nail squarely on the head. Just send us a scarf, or give us a jersey. I gave away the pint glasses they gave a few years back. Some kind of resin was in the glassware and it never could be cleaned out. I did, however, keep my Natinals jersey…
Despite its styrofoam packaging, my bobblehead of Trinity Rodman arrived already broken. I’m a great fan of Trinity but I was going to toss the bobblehead anyway and I’m certainly not going to ask to be sent a replacement.
