D.C. United reveals 2024 primary jersey, introduces Guidehouse as front jersey sponsor
D.C. United is set to begin the 2024 MLS season next weekend at Audi Field, and when they walk out onto the field against the New England Revolution, they will do it with a new look. Today, D.C. United introduced The Icon Kit, which will serve as the primary jersey for the next two seasons. Simultaneously, they announced that they have signed a multiyear deal with Guidehouse to be the front jersey sponsor for the team.

The Icon Kit takes inspiration from the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, which is located just a block from Audi Field. The bridge iconography adorns the back neck of the jersey. According to MLS, the jersey seeks the goal of “connecting local communities, bridging the club’s past with its future, and reaching new fans.” It’s a predominantly black jersey with red trim on the collar, the Adidas stripes on the shoulder, and around the sleeve. The red trim also extends up the sides of the torso to the armpits and creeps onto the back of the jersey.

The main design of the jersey is a black and gray flowing design that takes inspiration from the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge. The design continues on the back to give a black and gray look mixed with the red trim. A red jocktag reads “Unite The District” on the front left hem, with the Guidehouse wordmark on the front in white. The name and number on the back will remain white, and the jersey is expected to be paired with black shorts. The DC United crest remains on the left chest, eschewing the center crest design that some MLS kits have opted to have this year.
Along with the unveiling of the Icon Kit came the announcement that Guidehouse, a Northern Virginia-based consulting firm, would adorn the front of both the Icon Kit and Cherry Blossom kit as the front jersey sponsor. According to outlet Sportico, the jersey sponsor deal with Guidehouse is for 5 years at around $7.5 million per year. Sportico reported that the Black-and-Red wanted their jersey sponsorship deal to land within the top 8 jersey sponsorship deals in MLS. The deal also comes with signage at Audi Field and naming rights to the East Sideline Suite Level.
“We are confident that our partnership with Guidehouse will prove to be a transformational moment for our club and we are enthusiastic about what this relationship means for the next chapter of D.C. United,” Danita Johnson, DC United President of Business Operations, said in a statement. “It was important for us to align ourselves with a partner who shared our commitment to using our platform for purposeful, positive impact and a dedication to expanding the influence of our sport to provide more access, equity, and opportunity within our local community and across our region. The local insight – being based here in the region – paired with the international know-how with the work they do across the globe will have an immediate and long-lasting effect on our club’s mission to unite sport, build community, and ultimately compete to win championships.”
The sponsorship deal brings to an end DC United’s partnership with the XDC Network, a blockchain cryptocurrency company that had served as the front jersey sponsor for the past 2 seasons. The Apple TV logo will continue to exist on the left sleeve for all MLS clubs this season.
The 2024 Icon Kit is available now on the MLS Store in replica and authentic versions, and you can also customize it with your favorite player. You can also find it on sale at the DC United Club Shop at Audi Field.

I don’t believe this is correct. From images online, the back seems basic black beyond the red trim. I think it would look much better if the flowing black and grey pattern continued on the back, but it seems to stop at the shoulders, sleeves and side trim. The back seems quite naked, which I’d guess is calculated to get people to pay for customization.
It’s decent. It features our colors nicely. The nod to that beautiful bridge is a plus!
